The video coverage of yesterdays Star Wars: The Old Republic: Join Us, It’s Your Destiny panel has been released by Gamespot.
Another day, another Q&A. Today's question period revealed little to say the least. Here's a summary of what we took away from this session.
What we learned:
Well there you have it, not the juiciest reveals but a few tid-bits.
What questions would you ask the developers if you had the chance?
The latest trailer to come out of Comic-Con is "Join the Fight". It introduces each of the classes for the two factions. Who will you fight for?
The Old Republic panel has just wrapped up and it looks as though Holiday 2011 is the targeted release date. The other big announcement (had it not been leaked earlier in the day) was to be the availability of the pre-order, of which I'm sure most of you already have.
Also released were the identities of some of the voice actors involved.
David Hayter - Jedi Knight
Lacey Chabert - Mako
Catherine Taber - Vette
What did you think of the info released by the panel? Previously only 17 major planets were listed, what do want from the other two, pvp planet? A planet solely populated by nerf-herders?
Update: Bioware Base Q&A

Quite the cost, but quite the toy box!
Well, someone dropped the ball. A quick listing was spotted on Gamestop's website for a $149.99 price tag Collector's Edition of The Old Republic. On top of that, we've got some details as to what that hive of scum and villainy might contain.
The Collector's Edition contains:
* Exclusive Gentle Giant Darth Malgus statue
* Star Wars: The Old Republic game disks in collectible metal case
* The Journal of Master Gnost-Dural annotated by Satele Shan
* The Old Republic galaxy map
* Music of Star Wars: The Old Republic CD
* High-quality Collector's Edition box
But wait, there's more! Here's what you get in-game to play around with.
* Flare Gun: Fire flares into the air
* Training Droid: Hovers at your side for combat assistance
* HoloDancer: Project your own holographic dancer
* HoloCam: Keep visual records of in-game adventures
* STAP: Sleek and unique in-game vehicle
* Exclusive Mouse Droid: Spunky Droid to join your adventures
* Exclusive Collector's Edition Store: Unique in-game vendor with an assortment of items
Eh, the price tag is a little too much for those items. The idea of a CE-exclusive store also bothers me greatly, unless it only...
It's about damn time!
Well, we saw it coming after the leak, but here we go. BioWare has confirmed the preorder and collector's edition details that were leaked in the last few days, and far more importantly, spoke of early access and beta weekends for those who jump on the train early! I've got a roommate that's been in beta for this game for a year, and all I can say is that the wait and the game will be worth it this time. See you on Naboo!
The full press release can be located here if you just can't get enough words about this stellar news.
A map is a very important element to any MMOG that has quests and exploration. This week in BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) update, Principal Lead Systems Designer Damion Schubert outlines the creation process for the maps used in SWTOR. While the process of creating a map may not sound like a huge job, the process is encompassing and requires a lot of attention to detail.
In general, throwing maps into an MMO is easy. On the other hand, making maps that are comprehensive, accurate and useful to the player is much harder than you might imagine. Luckily for us, it was an area that we realized was hugely important very early on.
BioWare has created an effective way for maps to show players where to go both indoors and out while easily guiding them to mission objectives. See how they are doing it all in this week’s SWTOR update.

One thing that the Star Wars franchise has always done well is create an epic intro for its characters. This is a time honored tradition in each of their movies and especially true in their video games. BioWare is not one to shun tradition and this week Senior Video Editor Brian Arndt takes us behind the scenes to find out what BioWare has done to create an epic intro for each class in Star Wars: The Old Republic.
The update offers a look at a few of the in-game cinematics elements that include a variation the text crawl from the opening of The Empire Strikes Back and some fancy flying in the intro for the Smuggler class, including the design of some fancy flying through a separatist blockade. Following that, the team also took some time to field a few questions from the community relating to voice acting, monologues, in-game sounds and many more.

This Friday's tease comes in the form of a progression video. It gives us a brief look at the choices we can make as a bounty hunter, will you go power tech or mercenary?
