Rise of the Hutt Cartel Pre-Order Available

Just in time for the one year anniversary The Old Republic has officially announced their first digital expansion. “Rise of the Hutt Cartel” takes place on the all-new planet Makeb, where the Hutt Cartel has plans for becoming more than just an underground crime syndicate. Here you will take place in the planets story line and advance your character to the new level cap of 55. The expansion is scheduled for launch sometime in Spring 2013.

Along with the official announcement, pre-orders for the expansion have also become available. Regular F2P players looking to pre-order will have to shell out $19.99 by January 7, and receive the added bonus of 5 days advance access to the content. If you’re a current subscriber, or chose to subscribe before January 7, you can purchase the expansion at 50% for $9.99. All the information on purchase prices can be found on the official site Here.

What’s Inside?

As mentioned before, the expansion will include a new planet Makeb, complete with its own quest line centered on the Hutt Cartel’s attempts to become the new super-power in the galaxy. Little is known about exactly what kind of quests and content the planet will hold but players are sure to “… meet new allies, make new enemies and uncover the cutting-edge technology on this vibrant planet.”

Makeb is also where you will progress from level 50 to the new cap 55. As you do so you will gain access to new gear, abilities, and additional skill points to broaden your skillset. For those worried about old Flashpoints and operations becoming obsolete after such a short period of time it has been stated that many of these end game activities will be scaled accordingly to the new level cap, including their rewards. PVP brackets have not been mentioned thus far, but will likely remain unchanged.

The details may be sparse, but nonetheless it’s exciting to see a new planet join the SWTOR galaxy complete with cinematic story driven missions. With the promise of new details to be released, be sure to check back to get the latest info as it’s comes out.

Until it comes out and I see/hear how the gear plays out, i'm a bit concerned about all my efforts being wasted on current grind for gear and should just stop playing til this comes out so I can get better gear from the expansion story??? Why just 5 levels? 50 was a nice round number although if I get 5 more skill tree points that would be nice but at 50 you really have think what you need for skills pretty soon you'll max out one tree and half of another and there will be no real need to pick and choose. Not to mention 55 is an annoying number to see, at least raise to 60?? Increments of 5 is aweful unless the plan is to gradually lift level cap every few months by 5 but seriously that is an annoying escalation feature. Make it harder to reach 50 if you want people to keep aiming for levels, I reached 50 before I finished Hoth on my story.

I'm looking forward to new storyline for my character. I hold Bioware keeps up the quality writing for classes!

Why make a Expansion when we are still wating for fixes in the original game??? Need option to remove RED ERROR TEXT!!!!!
