The Old Republic wouldn’t be Star Wars if there wasn’t some space combat. After you gain possession of your ship, you’ll have the option of partaking in some space combat missions (also called Space Battles). To help you navigate your way through the Saleucami (Sith Empire) or Javaal (Republic) Fleet Actions, offers you this guide.

The Saleucami Fleet Action (Sith Empire) and the Javaal Fleet Action (Republic) are one of the first three space combat missions that you can participate in. The two missions are the exact same mission with only the identity of the opponents changed. This space combat mission requires the player to destroy an enemy fighter ace, shoot down five elite enemy fighters, and then calculate the jump to light speed. The light speed calculation is not really done by the player in that if you complete the first two objectives and survive until the time duration ends for the mission, you will succeed.

Javaal and Saleucami Fleet Action Mission Briefing

Mission Description: Sith Empire

An Imperial infiltration squadron has been ambushed by Republic forces near the planet Saleucami. The enemy is led by legendary pilot Nezhel “Sunspot” Othren. The squadron needs backup if it’s going to survive the battle in the planet’s low-orbit asteroid field, but more importantly, this is an opportunity to eliminate the deadly Republic ace.

Mission Description: Republic

A Republic patrol group has been illegally ambushed by Imperial ships in orbit high above the planet Javaal. The Imperial task force is led by a notorious Intelligence agent, and the patrol needs backup urgently if it’s going to have any hope of surviving the Empire’s attack.

Primary Objectives:

  • Destroy enemy fighter pilot ace (use missiles)
  • Destroy five elite fighters (use missiles)
  • Calculate the jump to light speed (done automatically)

Secondary Objectives:

  • Destroy 50 fighters and turrets.

Javaal and Saleucami Fleet Action Strategy

You’ll need missiles to destroy the five elite fighters, so you’ll definitely want to make sure that you have an upgraded missile capacity. As soon as you see the elite fighters, lock on them and fire your missiles. You won’t have much time to waste. The elite fighters come in two at a time. About ¾ of the way through the mission, you can see a single elite fighter on the extreme far left of the screen. Don’t bother trying to shoot him! You only have a second or two to see him and, even if you get a missile lock, he disappears behind an asteroid so your missile will only be wasted. As you finish the mission, there’ll be two more elite fighters flying next to the space station. Hopefully, you’ll have killed the enemy ace so you can make sure that you take out at least one of them to successfully complete the mission.

The enemy ace can take a lot of punishment before he’s destroyed. He’ll first appear leading a squadron of fighters, so you’ll need to wipe them out to get some clear missile locks on him. Don’t be stingy with the missiles with the enemy ace, but make sure that you save some for the special fighters. If you have a shot, pump as many missiles at him that you can to bring him down as quickly as you can.

You can easily fulfill the secondary objectives in this space combat mission, but you need to keep an eye out for the enemy ace and elite fighters. Don’t get caught up in trying to shoot every turret on a capital ship or blow up every single fighter. You will also need to keep an eye out for asteroids as that you can hit them and damage your ship, so be aware of where your ship is heading.
