Voidstar Warzone Guide

Reported missing during the Great War, the Voidstar is a prototype Imperial Battlecruiser said to contain the schematics of an extremely powerful weapon. Now, with the recent discovery of the derelict ship both Republic and Imperial forces are sending their best to get to the datacore, download the plans, and prevent the other side from getting their hands on them. In this guide we give you all the need to know information on the Voidstar Warzone and a few helpful tips that will give your team an edge.

The Basics

An assault style map, the warzone is broken up into two rounds, each faction taking a turn defending and attacking. Each round gives the attackers 7.5 minutes to battle their way to the datacore which is protected by three sets of doors, extendible bridges, and force fields. The winner is the faction that reaches the datacore in the shortest amount of time. If neither side reaches the datacore, the team that makes it the farthest in the shortest amount of time takes the W.

The Voidstar map is laid out in three sections each separated by a pair of heavy doors. In the center of each door is a marker that when clicked begins the bomb planting process which takes eight seconds, and can be interrupted by any damage received. Once the bomb is planted the defending team has 20 seconds to defuse (3 seconds) before the bomb goes off and grants access to the next section of the map. Each section contains its own spawn locations in the north for defenders, and the south for attackers.

The second area of the map holds an additional challenge in the form of two energy bridges that must be activated in order to gain access to the doors. This is done by controlling each bridges corresponding control panel for eight seconds. Like planting the bomb, this process is interrupted by any form of damage, but does not have a cap time. Crossing the bridge is a perilous task in itself as players can be knocked off, resulting in an instant and embarrassing death.

If you’ve managed to make it to the third section of the ship you’ll find yourself confronted with three force fields. They can be brought down in the same way that the bridge is activated, a control console placed in front of each barrier. Once the force fields are down, blow either one of the final set of doors and the datacore is all yours.

The UI for the Voidstar Warzone is set in the top right corner of your screen. It displays a map of the entire warzone complete with door locations, and other information such as the round number/timer, and whether you are attacking or defending. When a bomb is planted on a door its corresponding map icon will turn red and display the time left until detonation.

Like the other warzones, Voidstar contains powerups that will provide either a quick shot of health, or a buff to your expertise.

Tips and Tricks for Victory

Communication: Coordinating your attack or defense is a crucial aspect of the Voidstar Warzone. When attacking, deciding who’s heading to which door is something that should be settled by the time the match begins. If on the defensive, calling out where the enemy is headed and how many there allows your team to adjust accordingly and ward off any attacks.

While this may not seem as necessary due to the tight quarters of the map, the large amount of debris, pillars, and walls can hide enemies that your teammates may not be able to see from their angle.

Attacking

Speed is Key: When on the attack gaining and holding momentum is the key to victory. As soon as a door is breached players should be racing to the next objective, using any and all movement impairing abilities to slow the defenders down. Killing a defender right after a door breach also forces them to spawn on the other side of the bridge/forcefield, making activating them a breeze.

Focus on the Healers: This may come as a no brainer but becomes especially important in the cramped quarters of the Voidstar. The small size of the map means defenders are almost always in range of a heal, making for some pretty tough battles without taking them out first.

Sneak Attack: Sending your entire team to one door usually results in a longwinded battle and AOE storm that makes bomb planting a near impossibility. Instead, have a couple players (preferably stealth) peel off and head for the other door. In the best case scenario they end up overcoming the few defenders and planting the bomb. In the least they end up drawing a few enemies from the other door, providing a possible opportunity to plant the bomb.

Be Ready to Defend: Planting the bomb is only half the battle of blowing a door, defending it until detonation is the other. The defuse time is a mere 3 seconds so keeping a close proximity in order to interrupt any attempts is necessary. AOE abilities are your tool of choice in this scenario because you’ll often have more than one enemy attempting the defuse at the same time.

Defending

Protect the Healers: For the same reasons the attackers want to take them out, you’ll want to defend them. The small area in front of the doors can be easily held by a solid group using guards, taunts, heals, and of course a good amount damage.

Crowd Control and AOE:If you can’t kill an attacker you can at least slow them down or interrupt their bomb plant. Force push and the like work great for incapacitating enemies and putting some distance between them and the objective. When they do get within range of the plant site, throwing down an AOE attack is the safest bet to catch any would be door crashers, as in most cases there will be more than one.

Remember Voidstar is all about speed, slowing the enemy down for the smallest amount of time can make a huge dent in the 7.5 minute round length.

These are just a few suggestions to help get you on your way to mastering the Voidstar Warzone. By combining these tips, some solid teamwork, and a good understanding of your class role in a group, you’ll be on your way to the datacore in no time.

Ugh
I do not like Voidstar. Alderaan has its moments and so does Huttball, but Voidstar? blech... I so wish we could choose what battlegrounds to queue for.

I do agree with SirRobin here a bit, but at the same time I actually find it a bit easier sometimes to play. Although since the update I find that I have begun to be on the loosing side. Granted with the level 50s being moved to their own Warzone I have won very few Warzone. My lower levels do get some good points here and there but I do miss the 50s as they tended to be the most experienced in PVP. Ah well my other toons are close to level cap and I hope to be able to win something again.
